I am sorry to report that one of the senior Realtors on my staff of collegues has passed away this past week. Bob Jenkins was one of those Realtors that was very deep with profound knowlege about the profession. You could ask him anything real estate and you know he would have a sincere answer for you. He was one of the most upright Realtors I knew and caring at that. I had done an open house for him on a property in the Green Hills district in La Mirada and he popped in to tell me that he propped my sign up that had fallen over.
I would sometimes see him at Beatitudes of Our Lord Church in La Mirada. I knew of another time he went walking down Santa Gertrudes with a client presumably, as if it was a general conferring with the political leader (the homeowner) on thier property.
I know his farm in North Central/Eastern La Mirada will miss his expertise and am not sure who can fill his shoes. I will miss you Bob and I wish I could have learned more from you and worked under your study. Please watch over my real estate career from heaven and guide me when you can. You are a saint in my book.
I have included an excerpt from other sources about Bob:
A little about Bob Jenkins...
Bob was a very conscientious REALTOR® who was very well respected in the community. He was the President of the La Mirada Community Services Foundation. He was also very active in the community with the La Mirada Chamber of Commerce. In addition he provided free Real Estate Consultation twice a month for seniors.
Mr. Jenkins had been in the field of real estate for over 33 years and worked all over Southern California. In 2002, the Award of Excellence and Innovation was given to Bob Jenkins from the city of Alameda’s Volunteer and Action Group. In 2006, Bob and his wife Jeanette were given the Lifetime Achievement Award for Volunteers and Action for the City of La Mirada. He and his wife also donated some $50,000 to charities such as the American Cancer Society, City of Hope, and SPLASH The Aquatic Center of La Mirada.
When he first started his career in the computer industry, he was Vice President and then President of NCR Recreation Association in the early 60’s. At the same time he also became involved with the Kiwanis Club in his then home town of Manhattan Beach California, a service organization that helps children in need all over the world. He was elected to be Treasurer / Secretary of the club.
After moving to La Mirada in the early 80’s he met his wife, the President of the La Mirada Chamber and President of Helping Hands Group, a support group of the City of Hope. This group raised money for people like her son suffering with cancer. Bob decided to get involved with both organizations and would later become President of the La Mirada Chamber in 1986/1987.
Jenkins has been a REALTOR® associated with Prudential California Realty since 1997. He has distinguished himself as a sales leader consistently in the top ranks of a firm with over 1800 salespeople.
